Gunung Singgalang Sumatra Barat

West Sumatra is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has a diverse natural landscape, here we can find beautiful beaches, cool plateau, lined hills and mountains towering, one of which is Mount Singgalang located in Agam District.

Mount Singgalang has a height of about 2877 mdpl, is a type of volcanic mountain but is no longer active. Mount Singgalang decorated with moist mountain forests and lots of water stores so that the water supply for the climber is quite abundant. One of the things that make Mount Singgalang a prima donna to climb is the existence of a lake which is a former crater dead, the lake is known as the Goddess of Goddess. Telaga Dewi is at an altitude of 2765 mdpl, the water is very calm so that the existence of trees on the edge of the lake and the sky can terefleksi on the water surface.

How to get there

To climb Mount Singgalang there are at least three paths that can be an option that is Toboh Strip, Balingka Path and Koto Baru Line. But of these three paths, the most frequent and the most crowded used by climbers is the New Koto Line.

To get to the starting point of climbing the New Koto Line is not difficult because its position is between Bukittinggi and Pandang Panjang. If from the city of Padang we can use travel majors Bukittinggi, this travel usually hung in front of Basko Grand Mall, cost around Rp 22.000 with travel time about two hours. We get off at Pasar Koto Baru and then continue the journey by using the village transportation with Rp 3.000 fare and then down right in front of Pusako Pandai Sikek Weaving House. From here we have to walk as far as 2 km to Posko Ascent, report to officer, write down name and number that can be contacted into book of registration after that pay retribution equal to RP 7.000 per person.

From the climbing post we still have to walk 2 km to the starting point of the climb which is marked with the pole - pole transmitter television stations. Well, is not it a new struggle to the starting point of the climb? but if we come berserai we can rent village transport to be delivered to the television station transmitter.

Singgalang Mountain Climbing Path

The first field that must be faced for climbing Mount Singgalang Via Koto Baru is shrubs or Minang people call it pimpiang forest is a kind of grass with the size of the stem for the thumb so flexible that often cover the path makes the climbers have to bend and crawl. This path is quite difficult and tiring, approximately one hour to end the journey in the jungle pimpiang. After that, we will be faced by the path of tree roots, unfortunately there is no "bonus" here.

Climbing Mount Singgalang via Kota Baru is quite safe because the track is very clear. We just follow the cables and power lines that become the benchmark. After approximately 4 - 5 hours drive, we arrived at the cadas which is a suitable location to rest because it has enough space to set up some tents. From the cadas the next day we can continue the journey to Telaga Dewi. We will face a steep incline in the form of hard yellow rocks, in the middle of the hill there is a Galapagos Monument made to commemorate the disappearance of one of the students SMAN1 Padang nature pencita in the 1990s. After the climb then we will go through the forest moss, after the moss forest then we will meet the Goddess Lake is so fascinating.
